After undergoing the All On 4 dental implant procedure, it’s crucial for patients to adhere to specific dietary guidelines to promote healing and ensure the long-term success of their implants. Let’s explore our dietary recommendations tailored to patients with All On 4 implants, focusing on foods to consume and avoid, hydration, and the importance of nutrition in the recovery process.

Importance of Nutrition

Nutrition plays a vital role in the healing process following All On 4 dental implant surgery. Proper nourishment provides the body with essential nutrients required for tissue repair, bone regeneration, and overall immune function. Therefore, maintaining a well-balanced diet is paramount to support the body’s healing mechanisms and promote optimal oral health.

Dietary Guidelines for All on 4 Patients - Brooklands Dental ClinicDietary Considerations

A well-balanced diet for All On 4 patients should include a variety of nutrient-rich foods to support overall health and facilitate the healing process. Here are some key components of a well-balanced diet for All On 4 patients:

  1. Protein: Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, legumes, and dairy products provide essential protein for tissue repair and regeneration.
  2. Fruits and Vegetables: Colourful fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which help boost the immune system and promote healing. Opt for soft, cooked or steamed varieties to avoid irritation to the surgical site.
  3. Whole Grains: Whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, oats, and whole grain breads provide fibre and essential nutrients for energy and digestion.
  4. Healthy Fats: Incorporate sources of healthy fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil to support cardiovascular health and reduce inflammation.
  5. Dairy or Alternatives: Dairy products or fortified alternatives like soy milk or almond milk can provide calcium and vitamin D for strong bones and teeth.
  6. Hydration: Adequate hydration is crucial for overall health and healing. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and support the body’s recovery process.
  7. Supplements: Depending on individual needs, patients may benefit from supplements such as calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin C to support bone health and immune function.

Dietary Guidelines for All on 4 Patients - Brooklands Dental Clinic Foods to Avoid

For All on 4 patients, it’s essential to avoid certain foods that may impede the healing process or cause damage to the implants. Here are some foods to avoid:

  1. Hard and Crunchy Foods: Foods like nuts, seeds, hard candies, and raw vegetables can exert excessive pressure on the implants and surrounding tissues, leading to discomfort or damage.
  2. Sticky and Chewy Foods: Sticky candies, toffees, chewing gum, and foods with caramel or nougat can adhere to the implants and increase the risk of infection or irritation.
  3. Tough Meats: Tough cuts of meat or meat with bones should be avoided as they require vigorous chewing motions that may strain the implants or disrupt the healing process.
  4. Acidic Foods and Beverages: Acidic foods and drinks like citrus fruits, tomatoes, vinegar-based sauces, and carbonated beverages can erode tooth enamel and irritate the gums, increasing the risk of complications.
  5. Hard Crusts and Bread: Crusty bread, pizza crusts, and hard rolls can pose challenges for chewing and may cause discomfort or dislodgement of the implants.
  6. Alcohol and Tobacco: Alcohol and tobacco products should be avoided as they can impair healing, increase the risk of infection, and compromise the long-term success of the implants.
  7. Hot and Spicy Foods: Hot and spicy foods can irritate the surgical site and increase discomfort during the healing process. It’s best to avoid them until the area has fully healed.

Had my first hygienist appointment with Sarah yesterday. She deserves the rating, my teeth look and feel clean and smooth. Sarah was gentle and thorough, hugely important to those of us with a fear of the invasiveness of dentistry. Next appointment booked!

I haven’t been to the dentist in over 10 years due to a very bad experience. My mother In law recommended Brooklands dental and I’m so pleased I listened to her. My teeth are in an awful state, I had a lot of tears leading up to my appointment and I cried in there too but Kirsty the receptionist was very reassuring, so kind and checked I was ok whilst I waited. Ana was amazing, she could see I was nervous but kept me calm, explained throughout what she was doing, put a dental plan in place with no pressure to commit to it. She didn’t judge the state of my teeth and was just so lovely and reassuring. I feel very confident that she is going to help me get my teeth and gums back on track so thank you so so much for your help and understanding

I don’t usually write reviews, I’m doing it for 2 reasons. Firstly I can not find any words to thank, The hygienist ❤️Julieanne ❤️I have seen her twice this week. 40 minutes for first visit and today was an 1hr. Due to circumstances, and being soooo frightened, and suffering with severe anxiety, I let my teeth get it to a state, which has caused bone loss and gum disease. I have seen many hygienists in my time. Unfortunately due to my fear and anxiety, I was always given a quick 20 minute clean, due to the sensitivity I had, and lack of patience from the hygienist, even with the injecting of the gums, I was into much pain. The only hygienist in 20 years plus, Julianne has been the only one that could do what I needed for years, and gave me a deep clean. She didn’t rush, spent time to numb my gums, she is an extremely gentle person, but got the job done. She would not allow me to have any discomfort. After my first visit on Tuesday, I was excited that there was a cancellation today, can’t believe I said that 😂, even though I was anxious, I trusted her. I have actually done it. The other reason for this review, is for all the other people out there like me. If you have sensitive teeth, the last thing we think we can do is have our teeth cleaned, especially under the gums. Don’t worry, you really can, it all depends how qualified the hygienist is. It’s easy for me to say this now, and yes I will be anxious on my next appointment, but she really didn’t hurt me at all. Book with Julieanne, even though you might of experienced a painful experience before, hate the dentist, suffer with anxiety, and never been able to get a deep clean due to the pain from the water, noice, vibration. I had mine done pain free. I know I’ve got to try to save my teeth, and will be quite happy to go to Julianne So from someone who really knows, don’t need to be scared and see an exceptional lady. Thank you so much Julieanne.Love Julie x

I have a real phobia of dentists but needed a tooth extracted so very reluctantly made an appointment here. All I can say is from the time I stepped inside the reception area until the time all my treatment had finished - the service was excellent. The staff are all so caring and understanding and made me feel at ease. All very friendly too. I have recommended a friend who has already made an appointment. I will be back in 6 months for a check up - which I have never done before. I always wait for a problem before I go to the dentist.
