Is it worth going to Turkey for All On 4 implants - Brooklands Dental ClinicWhy Turkey?

UK citizens often choose to go to Turkey for getting dental treatments, including All On 4 dental implants, due to several reasons:

  1. Cost-Effectiveness: Dental treatments, including All On 4 implants, tend to be more affordable in Turkey compared to the UK. This cost-saving aspect attracts many individuals seeking quality dental care at a lower price point.
  2. High-Quality Facilities: Despite the lower costs, many dental clinics in Turkey offer high quality facilities and use advanced technology for dental procedures. Patients can benefit from modern equipment and techniques without compromising on quality.
  3. Experienced Professionals: Turkey boasts a pool of skilled and experienced dental professionals who are well-versed in performing All On 4 implant surgeries. Many clinics in Turkey have internationally trained dentists and specialists, ensuring competent and reliable treatment.
  4. Short Waiting Times: Unlike the UK, where patients often face long waiting times for dental appointments and procedures, dental clinics in Turkey usually offer more flexible scheduling and shorter waiting times. This allows patients to receive prompt treatment and address their dental concerns efficiently.
  5. Tourism Opportunities: Travelling to Turkey for dental treatment provides an opportunity for patients to combine their medical trip with a holiday. Turkey’s rich culture, historical sites, and scenic landscapes offer a unique experience for tourists, making it an appealing destination for dental tourists.

Is it worth going to Turkey for All On 4 implants - Brooklands Dental ClinicFactors to Consider

While there are benefits to seeking All On 4 implants in Turkey, there are also potential disadvantages that individuals should consider:

  1. Language Barrier: Communication may be challenging for some patients, as not all healthcare professionals in Turkey speak fluent English. This can lead to misunderstandings or difficulties in conveying preferences and concerns.
  2. Travel Risks: Travelling to a foreign country for dental treatment carries inherent risks, such as flight cancellations, delays, or unforeseen emergencies. Patients must consider the potential challenges associated with international travel, especially if they have underlying health conditions.
  3. Follow-Up Care: After receiving All On 4 implants in Turkey, patients may find it challenging to access follow-up care and support back in the UK. This could impact the continuity of care and management of any post-operative issues.
  4. Legal Recourse: In the event of treatment complications or dissatisfaction with the results, seeking legal recourse may be more complex when the treatment is performed abroad. Patients should be aware of their rights and the jurisdictional differences between countries.
  5. Cultural Differences: Patients may encounter cultural differences in healthcare practices and standards compared to what they are accustomed to in the UK. This can influence the overall patient experience and satisfaction with the treatment received.
  6. Quality Control: While many dental clinics in Turkey uphold high standards of care, there may be variations in the quality of services and adherence to safety protocols. Patients should thoroughly research and choose reputable clinics with certified professionals to minimise the risk of substandard treatment.
  7. Post-Treatment Support: Accessing post-treatment support and assistance, such as adjustments or repairs to the implants, may be challenging if patients return to the UK. They should consider how they will manage ongoing dental care and maintenance once they return home.

Potential Complications

There are potential medical complications that UK citizens should be aware of:

  1. Infection: Inadequate sterilisation procedures or poor hygiene standards at dental clinics in Turkey could increase the risk of infection following implant surgery.
  2. Nerve Damage: Improper placement of implants can result in nerve damage, leading to numbness, tingling, or loss of sensation in the mouth, lips, or chin.
  3. Implant Failure: Substandard materials or techniques may contribute to implant failure, requiring additional corrective procedures or replacement implants.
  4. Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may experience allergic reactions to dental materials used during implant surgery, leading to inflammation, swelling, or other adverse reactions.
  5. Bone Loss: Improperly placed implants or inadequate bone integration can result in bone loss around the implants, compromising their stability and longevity.
  6. Compromised Healing: Factors such as smoking, poor oral hygiene, or underlying health conditions may impair the healing process following implant surgery, increasing the risk of complications.
  7. Poor Aesthetic Outcome: Inexperienced or unqualified practitioners may not achieve the desired aesthetic results, leading to dissatisfaction with the appearance of the implants.
  8. Bite Alignment Issues: Incorrectly positioned implants can cause bite misalignment or occlusal problems, affecting chewing function and overall dental health.
  9. Resorption: Inadequate osseointegration or improper implant placement may lead to bone resorption over time, compromising the structural integrity of the jawbone.

Long-Term Maintenance

Long-term maintenance is a critical aspect of ensuring the success and longevity of All On 4 implants. For UK citizens who opt to undergo implant surgery in Turkey, accessing follow-up care and maintenance services back home can present challenges. This difficulty stems from several factors, including geographical distance, healthcare system differences, and logistical constraints.

Firstly, the geographical distance between Turkey and the UK can pose a significant barrier to accessing timely follow-up care. After returning home from Turkey, patients may find it impractical to travel back to the same dental clinic for routine check-ups and maintenance appointments. The distance may deter patients from seeking necessary care, leading to delays in detecting and addressing potential complications.

Moreover, differences in healthcare systems between Turkey and the UK may further complicate the process of accessing follow-up care. Patients may encounter bureaucratic hurdles or administrative requirements when trying to transfer medical records or coordinate care between healthcare providers in different countries. These administrative barriers can delay the provision of essential services and exacerbate the risk of long-term oral health issues.

Logistical constraints also play a role in hindering access to follow-up care for UK citizens who undergo All On 4 implant surgery in Turkey. Patients may face challenges in scheduling appointments with local dental professionals or finding specialists who are experienced in managing implant-related complications. Additionally, language barriers and cultural differences may contribute to communication challenges between patients and healthcare providers, further impeding the timely detection and management of potential issues.

Had my first hygienist appointment with Sarah yesterday. She deserves the rating, my teeth look and feel clean and smooth. Sarah was gentle and thorough, hugely important to those of us with a fear of the invasiveness of dentistry. Next appointment booked!

I haven’t been to the dentist in over 10 years due to a very bad experience. My mother In law recommended Brooklands dental and I’m so pleased I listened to her. My teeth are in an awful state, I had a lot of tears leading up to my appointment and I cried in there too but Kirsty the receptionist was very reassuring, so kind and checked I was ok whilst I waited. Ana was amazing, she could see I was nervous but kept me calm, explained throughout what she was doing, put a dental plan in place with no pressure to commit to it. She didn’t judge the state of my teeth and was just so lovely and reassuring. I feel very confident that she is going to help me get my teeth and gums back on track so thank you so so much for your help and understanding

I don’t usually write reviews, I’m doing it for 2 reasons. Firstly I can not find any words to thank, The hygienist ❤️Julieanne ❤️I have seen her twice this week. 40 minutes for first visit and today was an 1hr. Due to circumstances, and being soooo frightened, and suffering with severe anxiety, I let my teeth get it to a state, which has caused bone loss and gum disease. I have seen many hygienists in my time. Unfortunately due to my fear and anxiety, I was always given a quick 20 minute clean, due to the sensitivity I had, and lack of patience from the hygienist, even with the injecting of the gums, I was into much pain. The only hygienist in 20 years plus, Julianne has been the only one that could do what I needed for years, and gave me a deep clean. She didn’t rush, spent time to numb my gums, she is an extremely gentle person, but got the job done. She would not allow me to have any discomfort. After my first visit on Tuesday, I was excited that there was a cancellation today, can’t believe I said that 😂, even though I was anxious, I trusted her. I have actually done it. The other reason for this review, is for all the other people out there like me. If you have sensitive teeth, the last thing we think we can do is have our teeth cleaned, especially under the gums. Don’t worry, you really can, it all depends how qualified the hygienist is. It’s easy for me to say this now, and yes I will be anxious on my next appointment, but she really didn’t hurt me at all. Book with Julieanne, even though you might of experienced a painful experience before, hate the dentist, suffer with anxiety, and never been able to get a deep clean due to the pain from the water, noice, vibration. I had mine done pain free. I know I’ve got to try to save my teeth, and will be quite happy to go to Julianne So from someone who really knows, don’t need to be scared and see an exceptional lady. Thank you so much Julieanne.Love Julie x

I have a real phobia of dentists but needed a tooth extracted so very reluctantly made an appointment here. All I can say is from the time I stepped inside the reception area until the time all my treatment had finished - the service was excellent. The staff are all so caring and understanding and made me feel at ease. All very friendly too. I have recommended a friend who has already made an appointment. I will be back in 6 months for a check up - which I have never done before. I always wait for a problem before I go to the dentist.
