The Procedure of All On 4 Dental Implants in Milton Keynes

Procedure of All On 4 Explained by Dr Jager

Phase 1: Consultation, Assessment and Planning

Initial Consultation

Your initial consultation takes place at our Milton Keynes dental practice, offering convenience. Engage in a thorough discussion with our experienced implant dentists about your dental concerns, preferences, and potential solutions. We encourage questions, ensuring you’re well-informed about the All On 4 procedure and our team.

During the examination, our dentist assesses your remaining teeth and gums, capturing photographs to evaluate if same-day dental implants are optimal. At Brooklands Dental Clinic, we understand dental anxiety and prioritise your comfort. Our goal is to restore smiles and boost confidence, addressing various reasons for needing implants. Explore our independently verified patient reviews for reassurance.

Assessment

Following the initial consultation, if you and our dentist agree on the suitability of All On 4 Dental Implants, the next stage involves a computerised 3D CT scan. This detailed X-ray provides our implant team with precise images of your jaws and teeth, allowing us to analyse bone quantity, location, and quality beneath the gums. This step confirms your candidacy for All On 4 Dental Implants. Notably, our implants are often suitable for individuals with severe gum disease and jawbone loss, eliminating the need for bone graft surgery. In cases where All On 4 is not deemed suitable, alternative solutions will be discussed.

Planning

Once you’ve committed to the All On 4 Dental Implant procedure, we schedule your surgery, prioritising your preferred timings. Appointments for pre and post-surgery, like impression-taking, are also coordinated. Regular communication ensures your reassurance and full awareness of each stage. If needed, we liaise with your doctor or dentist for seamless care. Prior to the procedure, a virtual surgery is conducted, including a 3D model of your jawbone for meticulous planning. Our thorough preparations aim to provide you with absolute peace of mind throughout the process.

Phase 2: The Day of Surgery

During the surgical appointment, All On 4 Dental Implants are swiftly placed, restoring your smile and confidence within hours. Our dentist removes remaining teeth and inserts implants, serving as stable roots for new artificial teeth. The same day, receive fixed, natural-looking provisional teeth for immediate aesthetics. If you opt for sedation, we recommend bringing a companion to accompany you home post-surgery.

Sedation

The All On 4 Dental Implant surgery commences with optional sedation for a pain-free experience, accompanied by gentle numbing. Conscious sedation, chosen by most, ensures a relaxed and comfortable state, akin to a dream. You will remain awake, often with no memory of the procedure. Administered by our skilled anaesthetists, conscious sedation is secure, free from common risks associated with general anaesthesia. Opting out of sedation doesn’t compromise the pain-free nature of the implant placement procedure.

Implant Placement

Typically, we implant four in each jaw, forming the All On 4 technique. Each implant is strategically angled to optimise available bone, ensuring a precise fit and optimal stability for the custom artificial teeth bridge. Our advanced dental implant system incorporates a built-in angle, enhancing the foundation for your new replacement teeth with added strength.

New Teeth Placement

Following your dental implant surgery, meticulous measurements are taken, and you relax while our skilled laboratory technicians craft your personalised teeth. Crafted on the treatment day for customised excellence, these replacement teeth not only improve your appearance but also restore bite and chewing function, aiding in the healing process. The implant dentist securely places and supports your new teeth with the dental implants, offering you the chance to gaze in the mirror and witness your stunning new smile for the first time!

Take-home Implant Care Kit

Upon departure, your dentist provides a personalised implant care kit, featuring vital medications and oral hygiene items. Comprehensive instructions, including post-care expectations, are included. Our after-hours telephone numbers are available for any questions or concerns.

Phase 3: Healing

After the surgery, your new teeth will stay securely in place day and night as your bone integrates with the implants. Around 3 months later, we will replace them with your permanent set during a non-surgical appointment. Taking care of your implants and new teeth is simple. However, it’s crucial to adhere to dietary recommendations and maintain proper oral hygiene in the initial two months for successful implant healing. Rest assured, we’ll provide all the necessary information and advice you require.

Had my first hygienist appointment with Sarah yesterday. She deserves the rating, my teeth look and feel clean and smooth. Sarah was gentle and thorough, hugely important to those of us with a fear of the invasiveness of dentistry. Next appointment booked!

I haven’t been to the dentist in over 10 years due to a very bad experience. My mother In law recommended Brooklands dental and I’m so pleased I listened to her. My teeth are in an awful state, I had a lot of tears leading up to my appointment and I cried in there too but Kirsty the receptionist was very reassuring, so kind and checked I was ok whilst I waited. Ana was amazing, she could see I was nervous but kept me calm, explained throughout what she was doing, put a dental plan in place with no pressure to commit to it. She didn’t judge the state of my teeth and was just so lovely and reassuring. I feel very confident that she is going to help me get my teeth and gums back on track so thank you so so much for your help and understanding

I have been going to Brooklands dental clinic for a number of years. Before going here I hadn't been to a dentist in over 20 years as I was petrified of dentists. However circumstances forced me to go. They were brilliant with me, kind, gentle and understanding. All the staff were fantastic. I have now been going for a long time and had lots of different treatments and I am finally over my fear. I highly recommend this practice for its kindness, efficiency and skill.
